Last weekend I picked up an old Lear-Siegler ADM-31 for $20(!) at the Trenton Computer Fair. It passes its self-test on power-up, and the mini-line-tester box I also bought there says it seems to be generating all the right control signals to talk to my 3B1, but so far it doesn't show a login. I think my problem is that I don't know how to set the ditsy little thumbwheel control marked MODEM for 9600bps. Also, it might be necessary to know what the micro-switch blocks on the logic board are doing -- for all I know the sucker could be set up for odd parity and four stop bits at 134.5 baud right now! If you have docs for this beast, you can make me a very happy man by emailing suitable explanations -- or better yet, slipping a photocopy in an envelope and mailing it to the address below. Your good karma will be redeemable for dinner at a good restaurant next time we're in the same city. -- Eric S.
