I recently found a used hp2621B terminal with the thermal printer on
top. It is supposed to be equipped with a function field for the
printer functions. The problem is that the fifth function space,
where the printer stuff is supposed to be, is blank, thus disabling
me from using the printer.
Does anyone know if there's some way to program this function so
that the thermal printer becomes operable?
I've called the people at HP and they haven't really been able to
help me.
Thanks

This terminal was made both with and without the printer. My guess is that something is causing the firmware to conclude that no printer is present. Perhaps the power and/or data cables to the printer assembly are disconnected. Perhaps the printer has failed and is no longer signalling "I'm here" to the terminal. Does the printhead move a little at power-on? Regards, Hewlett-Packard Bob Niland rjn@hpfcrjn.HP.COM 3404 East Harmony Road [hplabs|hpu...!hpfcse]!rjn Ft Collins CO 80525-9599
