We just got our first AT&T 630 terminal, so we plugged it in and the first reaction is how slow it scrolls and how jumpy it is when scrolling. (The terminal arrived before the layers software that we plan to run it with, so we're just using it for now as a terminal.) I did a quick test ("time cat abigfile") and a real dumb ascii terminal outputs 950 chars/sec (@9600 baud) while the 630 only outputs at 422 chars/sec (@9600 baud). If the 630 starts at the top of the screen, things look faster, but as soon as it hits the bottom and starts scrolling, it slows down, and gets very jumpy. Is this normal, or do I have something set up wrong ? (We have the extra memory, for a total of 1152k.) Do things get better with the layers software ? (It's on a VAX running 4.3 BSD.)
