I'm looking for some assistance in programming a DEC vt340 color graphics terminal to do color text, perferably via curses and terminfo (sVr3.1 and sVr3.2 on AT&T 3b2 and 6386). There are some hooks for color in curses and terminfo on both 3.1 and 3.2 on the 6386 and on 3.2 on the 3b2, but unfortunately only a limited range of terminal types are supported - the 6386 color monitor and a few terminals that I've never heard of. I've gone through the vt340 manual (which I've decided is one of the worse manuals I've come across in a long time) and can't find any simple way to set some color attributes for text - I've found some REGIS (graphics mode) commands which set up the color map, and even if I figure these out, I'm still not sure how to invoke color for a given text. I've tried the usual ANSI sequences that work on PC-type monitors (e.g. ESC [ N m, where is N is 30-something for foreground and 40-something for background, but these do nothing. Surely someone out there must be using vt340's for similar applications. A terminfo description would be the ideal, but any sort of example (e.g. a VMS .COM file), hints, pointers to additional references, would be much appreciated. The vt340 is supposed to be upwards-compatible from the vt241, so any examples for that terminal should do as well.
