[comp.terminals] What can you rely on the pager to do ?

cmp7130@sys.uea.ac.uk (R.M. O'Neill) (06/19/89)

Recently I saw someone past an article to the net which when viewed with
'rn' contained some text that appeared bold. This was due to the poster
placing '^H_' after every letter in a similar manor to nroff'ed unix
manual pages.

The rn pager converted these to appropriate terminal dependant highlighting
techniques.

The question I would like to ask is :-
Can this be relied upon, or was the poster breaking the rules.

Maybe this is the wrong group to post to as its quite 'news-system'
oriented, but there you go...

					E-Mail replies please....
