[comp.terminals] Tweaked AT386 Termcap/Terminfo entry

jep@fantasci.UUCP (Joseph E Poplawski) (07/25/89)

Does anyone out there have a tweaked AT386 termcap or terminfo entry? I have
the one that comes stock with Interactive UNIX V.3 (1.0.5) but unfortunately,
a few programs that use the screen functions, such as robots are very
scrambled on my screen. There were a few others, but I do not remember the
names of them.

Any suggestions or am I the only one with this problem?

It may be that you need to run "infocmp at386 >at386.tic", edit the
resulting at386.tic file to remove the "xt" flag, and then run "tic
at386.tic". The xt or "teleray_glitch" flag is used to indicate to
termcap/terminfo that it should compensate for some wierd behavior
on the part of the Teleray 1061 terminal. I can't see any reason why
it flag was ever set in the at386 termcap and terminfo entries, but
it is... or was. Some time ago, I found that this flag was causing
GNU Emacs to scramble it's display on the 386 console. I fixed my
termcap file - that's easy - but it was thanks to this group that I
learned how to fix it in terminfo.
