Hi, I need something I am not sure how to name, so I'll call it a "terminal simulator". (If these things have a name, please teach me.) My company builds systems that translate EDI documents (business docs in like PO's, bill of materials, etc) into operations on a clients own transaction system. Often these systems run on IBM midrange/mainframes, and the only way to input data or receive data from them is through the block mode terminal. What we'd like to do is have a program running on a PC/DOS, Unix, or Os/2 (all these platforms are of interest.) _pretend_ to be the human operator, and send and receive data from the IBM computer. We'd like it to be easy to accomodate new screen formats as well, so some kind of interactive screen format defintion tool would\be needed in addition to the run tiem libabry that lets our programs pretend to be 3270s. Does such a product exist? Does this application type even have a name? Thanks, Andy (cond ((lovep you (quote LISP)) (honk)) (t (return NIL))) ...!pacbell!acsdev!andy or andy@arpa.berkeley.edu
