I recently was given an Intertec Data Terminal (sorry model # not available as it's about 200 miles away right now) and I need some help using it. This particular terminal (circa 1979-1980) has several emulation modes such as ADM3A and VT52. It also handles from 110bps to 9600bps. I can't figure out how to switch these mode (there are labels above the number keys with the different modes on them, but no combination of the "control/function" keys (red and yellow keys w/no labelling) produces any result other than an occasional beep.) Null-modemming this to my computer produces garbage characters at any baud rate I select (I don't have software that does 110bps, which I am guessing is the current mode, since everything else appears to be in the first/lowest setting.) Now for the hardware condition: The terminal's monitor didn't come on the first time I powered it up. A good slap on the top of the case fixed that (not very comforting to know :-) ). Opening the case revealed what appears to be a couple batteries (No....They are _not_ capacitors) which are soldered onto the primary board. One of these has leaked, so I haven't even bothered to check them. My guess is they powered some memory to hold the default settings. A 28-pin socket (24 maybe -- memory fails me) right next to these batteries (in the lower left-hand corner of the board) is empty. Basically, if anyone here has experience operating on of these things, please email me. I have a couple questions to ask.... Thanks in advance... _ _ Disclaimer: "What I _really_ meant was..."
