[comp.terminals] ADDS Viewpoint/60+ Terminal

dmarsa@eecs.umich.edu (Dennis Marsa) (10/26/90)

I have an ADDS Viewpoint/60+ terminal. However, I can't seem to find a
good termcap entry for it. There are termcaps for 'viewpoint' and
'viewpt60' on my system, but neither works with vi or emacs. This
terminal can also be put into "Regent 40" mode. The 'regent' termcap
works for vi, but still not for emacs. I would really like to be able
to use emacs on this terminal, so if anyone has the appropriate termcap
information, I would greatly appreciate your help.

The viewpoint 60+ is 99.8% compatable with the viewpoint 60. The only
difference is in the handling of some of the printer port sequences.

"Regent 40" mode is needed to use reverse vidio, underline, etc. in a
normal manner. The wyse 60 "viewpoint 60" emulation lacks this
capability. (There is no reason to disable regent 40 mode, I don't
know why it is an option.) If you realy want in compatable to the
regent 40, also set "home" position to the lower left corner. (This
termcap avoids the "home" seqence.)

The base regent is pretty dumb, avoid it if possible.

A good regent 40 termcap should work ok (extra padding on
insert/delete line, no insert/delete character). Unfortunatly, many
systems have one with several typos in it. (Possibly from Berkeley.)
