[comp.terminals] Need help purchasing X terminals

hista@jetson.uh.edu (12/03/90)

Hi netters,

We were out looking for good (& cheap) X terminals, and need
some advice in the matter. First of all, if there are any suggestions
to the effect -- including contacts and prices.

Secondly, we have a quote from Visual Technology for a X-14/ES
terminal. Now, if there is anyone out there who might be using this
or any of the other X series terminal from the same joint, I would
appreciate some advice to the effect.

	Thanks in advance.

Aashish

Well, if they're the same company that made the Visual 6xx series of
terminals, beware.

The terminals (specifically the 603) are very nice, with nifty features
and very nice displays, but they are also remarkably unreliable.
I have a 603 that I got for free, because it was broken. I fixed it
and since then, another (unrelated?) problem has shown up. The
place that I got it from has had many such terminals die on them.
The failures seem to be centered in the power supply/video board.
