I just picked up a Microterm 5510 to use on my SYSVR3 (Esix) system. As I understand it, this terminal is supposed to be a VT-320 compatible. I've been setting my term environment variable to vt220, lacking a vt3xx entry in termcap or terminfo. The terminal is doing some bizarre things -- I'll type along just fine, then go into, say, Emacs, and the terminal characteristics will change and I'll see garbage. From another terminal, I'll check the stty for that terminal, and I see that it, too, has changed, say from 7E to 8N. It seems like somehow the terminal must be sending wierd signals to Unix. At that point, I need to go in to the terminal setup and "fix" the config to match what stty thinks it should be (or else su to root and change the stty settings from another terminal). Is this normal behavior with this terminal? Is it a configuration issue that I can correct? Is my terminal defective?
