I know from previous experience on this group that there is at least one other person out there that uses a CIT 101 terminal. So here is the problem. Recently I managed to find a fin little program that sent a few thousand Beeps and other nasty control characters.. Instead of just turning the terminal off and such, I decided to see if I could stop it.. I did. But apparently it killed my keyboard. I didn't even think this sort of thing was possible but apparently it is. When I test the keyboard now with a continuity tester the transmit and ground wires are showing continuity. I went down to the place where I bought the terminal and checked out a semi-parted out CIT 101 keyboard and it does not show this little problem so I know that it is a keyboard problem and not a motherboard problem (fingers crossed). So the question is.. has this ever happend to anyone else and whether it has or not, does anyone know what chip might be fried.. I traced it as well as I could but couldn't find anything definatvie. The chips that I found in there are this. starting from left to right: 74244, 74374,74373,7407 (twice) first one that I traced transmit wire too.. is SN75452BP J215D2 continuing on.. 555 (timer of course) and finally the one with the big heat sink: (not TI) F 8127 7805UC And thaz it.. so what might need to be replaced here? I would love to unsolder all my chips and replace them all but I am hoping that there might be an easier solution. Currently, I have been forced to turn on my PC and use a comm program just to talk to my modem... You laugh but I have a PC1 (8088) with 256K of RAM and a Green Screen.. Bleck. I want my terminal back. Any help would be appreciated.. thanks.. ian -=Runaway Daemon=-
