We have three vt241s which are similar to the vt240 and the vt220 except the vt241 has color graphics. I have also been looking for a termcap but have yet to find one. I have made a couple changes in the .profile that might be useful. First of all, I changed the delete key to a backspace key. The vt241 has a key that says backspace but it is only really a backspace if you have the terminal in vt100 mode. I figure if you had been willing to settle for a vt100, you would have bought a vt100 and not a vt241. Since you let the delete key have the functionality of the backspace key you need a way to abort programs and I let Cnt z do that. I also wrote a little program to change the color of the screen at one minute intervals, assuming the person is not doing any work for which the color is important. Ordinarily a shell file calls a fortran program every minute changes the color and then sleeps for another minute, and so on. Each change is very small, almost imperceptible but over an hour or more, the changes can be very great. If you want to change it on your own by the same small amount, one can say color and it will change it. If you want to save a color that the screen happens to have at that moment, you can say color s. To recall any of the colors you saved, just say color n where n is any number that you were given at the time the color was saved. There is a limit of 100 colors that can be saved. The program has a couple difficulties that you should be aware of. It is written in fortran using the lpi fortran compiler. In order to use it, you will have to have a fortran compiler on your system. Also, if you are running a program where the color of the screen is important, you have to abort the shell file that changes the color every minute. Anyway, if you are interested, send a note to me at: uunet!ukma!lunatix!treeres!willis and I will send you a copy of the program or my .profile showing the changes made for a vt241.
