Actually it was the naming authority that was set up to handle the Janet 
(mainly accademic) net.   We all find it perverse too, but it shouldn't 
affect anyone outside the UK, as ukc (the main UK gateway) is pretty 
good at reversing adresses.

People here refer to the problem as Big-endian vs Little-endian addressing,
which for those of you who have read Swift tells you our attitude to it.
