HELP!!!!!!! The Computer Science Department at Ohio University is running System V release 2 on a PDP-11/70. About three weeks ago, something went bad and uucp would no longer work without major handholding. It seems like if you talk nice to the machine, uucp will work. :-) A previous problem before uucp stopped working was that after a news feed sent over 30 files, the darn thing would stop and drop core. I've been informed that a certain define must be increased, which should get rid of the problem. Unfortunately, attempted re-makes of uucp do not work - no incoming or outgoing calls are possible. By the way, they have a UNIX source license at the University, and so re-building uucp from scratch is possible. The only trouble is that there are a couple of different flavors of uucp floating around in the /usr/src/cmd directory, and no one is sure which version is which. Does anyone out there have a decent, working uucp that will definitely run on a PDP-11/70? I've been told that HDB is not available for it, but that someone (Henry Spencer, maybe?) has tweeked around with it to try and get it going on the 16-bit machine. Any and all replies should be directed toward me, since no one at Ohio University can get replies at this time, anyway. -- Timothy G.
