Can anyone tell me why I have recently started receiving "junk mail" which is heading to domain-contacts@cbosgd.att.com or something like that. I understand why I am on the mailing list. I am the system administrator for our site, the network contact for Email problems, and the person who registered our site as a domain in the UUCP Zone. My question deals with the "junk mail". Why is this discussion taking up UUCP mail transmission time (for everyone who registered a UUCP domain I suspect), rather than occuring here in netnews? It all seemed to start last week with someone who is losing their forwarder, and seems to have blossomed into two or three messages a day that I really don't want to have to read! I'm not unsympathetic, I'm just not in a position to help these folks. Shouldn't the domain-contacts alias be used for more general purpose messages, not a plea for help from any joe with an email problem? Isn't that why netnews was setup? Don't the UUCP zone people care that their system is being used to distribute (possibly) hundreds of (probably unwanted) messages weekly? #include <local/standard_disclaimer.h> Patrick Wolfe Internet: pat@kai.com System Manager UUCP: ...!{seismo,ihnp4,uiucuxc}!kai.com!pat Kuck & Associates, Inc.
