Wel ... not that *I* know of there hasn't been any discussion at all on bsmtp-users@ms.uky.edu and yes, using bsmtp would allow you to batch up lots of messages into one file. unfortunately I don't have the time to do any more work on that right now. maybe over christmas break ... a quick poll suppose me'n'Rick (uunet) worked out the details of doing bsmtp over uucp and installed it at uunet.
