There are a couple of other problems that I have noticed (at least with
my site). When the UUCP Mapping Project people send out map updates the
people who un-shar these maps and generate new pathalias data, don't remove
the old maps (I believe in fear of not getting all the maps?! :-) ) This
causes some old maps, like the u.usa.XX.a.1 (for the AT&T maps) that haven't
been updated in years still generate routes (bogus ones). I wouldn't have
noticed this, but I just recently took on another site called "mozart",
he is legitimately registered with the Map-people, as is another site called
"alps" -- a PC6300+ that I run at work.

My smail log file had some entries in it for mailing to alps!smith,
mozart!meijerin ... both who don't EXIST on those machines. They might
have existed on internal AT&T machines that once/or still do exist.
Since my site (icus) is well connected, the pathalias sometimes generates
paths to these sites through me... hence dumping these mail messages
in the dead area ;-(

The u.usa.XX.a.1 files were declared dead long ago. At that time we posted
empty u.usa.XX.a files to the net to cause the old data to be tossed.
Somehow, your site must have missed these postings. At any rate, if anyone is
still using u.usa.XX.a files for routing, you're bound to get into trouble.
At this point, you should just delete the files. Some folks have kept these
files around because AT&T no longer publishes internal information. That's
fine I guess - but don't use the files as input to pathalias!!! BTW: The same
goes for u.usa.nj.b.1 (the old Bellcore File). That is, it should no longer
be used as input to pathalias.....
