[comp.mail.uucp] Mail maps

bill@carpet.WLK.COM (Bill Kennedy) (06/16/88)

This might be a better question for Mel Pleasant but only if I'm the
only person on the net with the question/curiosity. I am fairly
sure that several of the maps I am using are out of date and/or
redundant. I think, for example, that my d.usa.oh.1 is dated some time
last Fall.

Is there an ls -l style report published anywhere of the official maps,
sizes, dates? If not, then am I the only one who would check it to see
if he was using the right maps? If so, can someone please point me to
it? It would be nice to have such a list from (preferably rutgers) a
"hot" site on the first of each month or so to check from time to time.
Since the maps come out periodically now, such a list should probably
just be posted once a month. Any comments?

Several sites on the apranet have the maps available for anonymous
ftp. You might want to get a new set of maps periodically. I don't
have a complete list of these sites but I know uunet.uu.net has them
available in a compressed tar format.
