[comp.mail.uucp] Domain identity; and getting the runaround . . .

rwhite@nusdhub.UUCP (Robert C. White Jr.) (08/19/88)

Hi,

We are moving from three (3) UNIX Systems to seventeen (17) in
the *near* future. We _are_ using a LAN. We *are not* using TCP/IP.
The LAN people told me that I had to apply to the UUCP project for
a domain name, while teh UUCP projuct told me I had to apply to
someone else because we are using a LAN.
This, to me, constitutes the runaround.

Does anybody know who I should contact to get a domain name. I would
like "nu.edu" or something similar.

Currently our main mail link is UUCP through ucsd. This machine will
act as the gateway, and I have already installed and tested the
necessary software. We may get a more legitimate connection to
the rest of the world later, but until then I need a domain name
for in-house usage.

WHERE DO I GO? Will it cost big bucks? Who do I have to kill?
What's the meaning of life? Who is this god person anyway?
( ;-) as app.)

Rob.
