[comp.mail.uucp] blocking mail without UUCP source, and routing rights

vixie@decwrl.dec.com (Paul Vixie) (08/27/88)

I answered this in in private e-mail to Eliot, but I thought I'd better tell
the rest of the world about it too.

You can block pass-through mail by replacing /usr/bin/uux with either a C,
shell, or perl script. There's nothing magic about "uux - -r -z (foo!rmail)"
and the From_ line is easily examined.

As for routing rights, noone has the right to force you to route mail one way
or another. Whatever you put in your UUCP map entry should be respected, and
you can enforce this if you need to. (I've never needed to.)
