After months of telling people to set up their paths file as follows, I actually did it myself on a new system I was helping set up. .uucp %s asite asite!%s mysite %s site2 site2!%s smart-host asite!%s somesite somesite!%s The problem is that mail to user@non-neighbor.uucp bounces. It seems smail strips off the .uucp, then bounces it without trying the smart-host. user@asite.uucp (a neighbor) works fine, as does user@non-neighbor (without the .uucp suffix).
