[comp.mail.uucp] Problem Mail From Denmark

gary@mic.UUCP (Gary Lewin) (10/31/88)

System mic in Dallas, Texas, has recently begun receiving internal Denmark
mail. Truthfully, we are not certain what to do about this. Only two letters
have been received so far, this month, but that is two too many and someone
needs to know. A copy of the most recent one follows (complete with headers):

Halli, hallo

Das Gnu-Tape (1600 bpi) ist via snail-mail unterwegs
an Michael im HRZ der Uni Du.
Drauf ist emacs 18.51, gcc 1.26, g++ 1.25 u.v.m.

Das grosse Archiv mit ca. 24MB Soruces, von dem wir
sprachen (-: beschreibe ich gerade als QIC 24 Streamer.
Vielleicht erwische ich den Klaus noch @ gellbo.

Gruss Matthias
-------------------------------END OF LETTER-----------------------------

We have conntacted Doug McCallum and Greg Hackney in an attempt to
determine what to do. We have <NOT> contacted mfehr@mic.megalon.de yet,
since we (I) am not sure what to say.

Could someone please give some advice about how to handle this problem?

[For what it is worth, system mic has been around since 1985. The problem
has got to be comming from mic.megalon.de or from how <SOME> other system
in Denmark is trying to access mic.megalon.de.]

this looks like megalon might be "pulling a fast one"
munging the address and then bouncing it back to unido.

in a case like this, I'd contact the postmaster at unido,
megalon and inform the original sender, rubmez!frei ...

well, I'll do just that with your article ...
