Could someone out there help me in sending mail to a friend at DEC? I know the machine they are running on (DECWRL) in Mass., and know that people are able to talk to them with a uucp connection. I just don't know how to do it. Thanks in advance.

[Collar] # Could someone out there help me in sending mail to a friend at DEC? # I know the machine they are running on (DECWRL) in Mass., and know that # people are able to talk to them with a uucp connection. I just don't # know how to do it. Well, heck. First, DECWRL is in Palo Alto, California. Second, in order to send them mail you need to know their login name and the name of the machine they live on. Then, from UUCP, you send mail to "...!decwrl!machine!person", or just "...!decwrl!person" if the person you want to reach works here in Palo Alto. From the Internet, you'd send mail to <person@machine.dec.com>, or <person%machine.dec@decwrl.dec.com> if your mailer doesn't do wildcard MX, or <person@decwrl.dec.com> if the person works here in Palo Alto. In general, mail to <postmaster@decwrl.dec.com> will get you a cute little form-letter telling you basically what I said above. Note that we cannot give out John Q. Decemployee's e-mail address; you will have to find their machinename and loginname out -- presumably by phone -- before you can send them any mail. -- Paul Vixie Work: vixie@decwrl.dec.com decwrl!vixie +1 415 853 6600 Play: paul@vixie.sf.ca.us vixie!paul +1 415 864 7013
