I have often wanted to make improvements to the quality of USENET, and seize this opportunity to try my hand at it. Comp.mail.uucp is fairly repetitious, and most of the specifics are pretty static and easy to handle. The S/N ration isn't too bad here, but the informational value of this group might go up if periodic postings were made, with pointers to archives, short descriptions of commonly asked questions, etc. (By the way, I'm of the opinion that bandwidth isn't what matters; it's overall quality. Even if these periodic postings get to be larger than the space they save in repeated postings, it's the content of the discussion that gets improved.) I might automatically nominate myself, except for the fact that I haven't had gobbles of months of good experience with UUCP. However, if people don't object, I'll start a very small biweekly posting which will give an address where to suggest additions and modifications to the posting, and as much as I know (not much) which would help someone first coming to this group.
