Here are several bits of info which may solve a few questions I've seen lately. Login trouble: ============= SysV to BSD: Many SysV use no parity, many BSD use even parity. When the BSD calls the SysV put P_ZERO in the L.sys file entry, like "" P_ZERO "" "" gin:--gin:-BREAK-gin: uucp ord: snafu Access denied: ============= A reasonably secure system might look a lot like this: uucico owned by uucp, group uucp, mode 4710. Dialin uucp login UID **not** uucp, just some normal user value, group uucp, login shell /usr/lib/uucp/uucico. Directories in the default directory, normally /usr/spool/uucppublic, are one per user to allow sending to site!~/user/ as a destination. These directories should be as follows: drwxrwx--- smith_l uucp 32 /usr/spool/uucppublic/smith_l ________________________________________________________________ Hopefully this will help someone. -- bill davidsen (wedu@ge-crd.arpa) {uunet | philabs}!steinmetz!crdos1!davidsen "Stupidity, like virtue, is its own reward" -me
