You probably will hear a lot about UUPC, which is a personal computer-based UUCP-compatible mailer available for PC-clones, the Macintosh, the Atari ST and possibly also the Amiga. An alternative that is worth considering is the STadel BBS (bulletin board system) program. Shareware magazine rated it as one of the best PC-based BBSes available. Among its features are Usenet-compatible mail and the ability to integrate UUCP mail and/or batched news into STadel discussion rooms. STadel is based on Citadel, a popular networking BBS that runs on a variety of architectures. It is reasonably small and fast. The author, David Parsons, can be contacted at stag!pell!orc@bungia.mn.org, or by snail mail at 143 Cimarron, Lake Elmo, MN 55042 USA. I think he would like a $50 donation, but will mail you disks if you provide them plus postage. Specify whether you want the PC-clone version or the Atari ST version. Disclaimer: My only affiliation with STadel is running the software.
