I'm working on software that will help add Usenet news-handling capability to UUMAIL, a UUCP-compatible mailer for the Atari ST. I have rnews handing single and batched newsfiles as described in Mark Horton's RFCxxx draft "Standard for Interchange of USENET messages [Obsoletes RFC 850]". I'd like to add the capability to handle compressed news, but I need information about the format. I presume that it's related to the #! rnews <bytecount> header used in news batches, but that is just a guess. I do have a reliable version of compress/zcat/etc. Tips would be appreciated.
