I am looking for a PEP site to poll for the Fidonet mtask conference
via UUCP after it has been gated. Can anyone help me?

I would prefer a site in the US.

akcs.larry@nstar.UUCP (Larry Snyder) (10/25/89)

I keep getting an error "cannot create poll file"
when running ufgate to poll my host - any ideas?

Have you made sure that a spool directory for that site exists?
Make sure the path in the UFGATE.CTL (I think that is what it is called)
points to the same spool path that you created. I have had like problems
in the past and those were the cause. :-)

In your ufgate.ctl, be sure you use correct directory name.
I suggest to try this in MS-DOS computer away from VP/IX
(I am running ufgate in my own laptop). If you want to poll to
foobar, I suggest to make c:\uucp\spool\foobar in both ufgate.ctl
and ms-dos directory. If you are running under vp/xi, you may
have unix file permission problem. If creating poll file is
successful, it should show up as poll.c under \uucp\spool\foobar.

My boy says, "Don't Worry. Be Happy!".

I have UFGate running on one of my machines and the gate from Unix to
Fido works fine - but I can't get the outbound Fidonet mail batched up
and the rnews headers installed - so after the replies are mailed to the
unix machines - they are canned.

Any ideas?

Willie - do you have that Fidonet package that up picked up
from Europe up and running under Unix/Xenix?

paine@rust.dec.com (Willy Paine) (10/30/89)

I already send you rfmail version 0.3.5 but this is terrible broken
and author's boss will not let him testing this on his way. Author
send me workable version 0.3.4 and it compiles in Xenix very well,
even you need to include alloca.c from GNU or maybe fake it with
malloc(). Right now in Xenix, dialing out is not working and it
has problem with status calls on communication but this works fine
with real System V except disconnecting when try to start Sealink.
I am still waiting for compiler for Unix 3.2 so I can use in my own
machine at home. I am told that this code works perfect on BSD
machine.

Willy

p.s. I can send you version 0.3.4 in uuencode. just send me email to
uunet!nwnexus!seaeast!willyp or willyp@seaeast.wa.com

Well - does it work well enough to allow me to UUCP the Echomail over
to the Unix box then run rfmail to TOSS the mail into Usenet compatible
messages?
