Taking a couple of entries as an example: lakart pallio(DAILY) pallio lakart(HOURLY) Do the two different costs make a difference?, i.e. if pathalias is trying to route FROM lakart to pallio, will it use DAILY or HOURLY? This comes about as an extension of the fact that I have seen a couple of instances where a link is shown from one end, but not from the other. To sum up, does the existance of a link in one direction imply that an equal cost link exists in the other direction. -- dg@lakart.UUCP - David Goodenough +---+ IHS | +-+-+ ....... !harvard!xait!lakart!dg +-+-+ | AKA: dg%lakart.uucp@xait.xerox.com +---+

uucp connections are NOT the same in both directions. For instance, many sites call sixhub (a) when they have mail, or (b) at long spaced intervals. Thus from that site to sixhub the cost is DEMAND, while the other way it is WEEKLY. And some site call ONLY on demand, which make the cost back to them DEAD, since the average time between calls may often be longer than the expiration time for mail. This happens when one site is picking up the phone bills, and explains why you often can't return mail by reversing the path. -- bill davidsen (davidsen@crdos1.crd.GE.COM -or- uunet!crdgw1!crdos1!davidsen) "The world is filled with fools.
