I recently succeeded in getting UUPCe/1.07h and my Telebit tossing mail back and forth with another Telebit at eddie.mit.edu in PEP mode. Here's what I did (caveat: some info may be specific to the T2500): 0) My computer is a 386/25 PC-compatible, and modem a Telebit T2500. 1) Read the Quick Start manual. 2) Read the instructions for attaching the modem to PC's -- conventional instead of extended command mode, for example. The stuff I have in my default configuration are: (Is stuff plural?) AT &C1 &D2 &W. Next, my systems file contains the line: mit-eddie Any COM1 DIR 19200 g "" \dAT~S111=30M0 OK \dATDT... and away I go. Mit-eddie has a real problem with trying to make connections, but they <strongly> recommend that you try, try, and retry, so (haven't looked at the code, so I may be talking out of my hat here) I wish that UUPOLL had a smart redialing time algorithm buried in it somewhere. Message: Don't screw around and analyze your new spiffy Telebit modem yourself like I did for over a week trying to figure out the answers from the full manual for the bloody thing. Read the simple manual, try the simple, obvious answer, and in all likelihood it will work. Good lesson for me and humankind, not in any order. Good luck! - Dave Watt dmwatt@athena.mit.edu dmwatt%smersh.UUCP@eddie.mit.edu <- Telebit dmwatt%smersh.UUCP@bloom-beacon.mit.edu <- 1200 baud, but works fine
