I am running a modified UUPC under MS-DOS, which has been working quite well in communications with a nearby VAX. However, I'm having troubles trying to set up a second link with a XENIX system in town. When I check the debug output of uuio (the uucico equivalent), I find this: VAX (Ultrix) XENIX System (SCO SysV) [dialing chant deleted] 1st msg: Shere 1st msg: Shere= [deleted] 2nd msg: ROK 2nd msg: RLOGIN [remainder deleted] When my software sees the "RLOGIN" message, it closes the connection. In fact, it closes the connection on anything but "xOK", where the first character is ignored. What does "RLOGIN" mean, and what response is the XENIX system expecting? (I'll go change UUPC again...) I appreciate any help you can offer. E-mail is probably good for responses; I doubt that the majority of the net is interested in this problem. <=> Stephen Trier sct%seldon@skybridge.SCL.CWRU.Edu {sun, att, decvax}!cwjcc!skybridge!seldon!sct sct@po.CWRU.Edu

The system is supposed to close the connection after seeing "RLOGIN." RLOGIN means "Remote Reject After Login." This can happen for any number of reasons, however the most common (with HoneyDanBer) is that the remote system doesn't have you specified in their Permissions file. The system is expecting "OK". The table of messages that are expected, and what they mean. LCK Locked System (they're already talking?) LOGIN Remote reject after login CB Callback (security) You are unknown to me Local isn't in remote's Systems file BADSEQ Bad Sequence OK Everything is OK Anything else will give you "UNKNOWN RESPONSE" and close down the connection. I would be interested in hearing any responses you get from this message. I am having the very same problem with a UNIX Sys V machine and can't figure it out. /\/\ark UUCP .....!uflorida!ki4pv!macs!mdg BITNET griffith@stetson
