I was rather perplexed by this one a while back and found that by using the ~C command of tip I was able to call up an "external" protocol i.e: /* start the protocol on the remote */ foo% sz -b foo.tar.Z /* use command exit to start protocol on your machine */ foo% ~C rz -b /* no need to specify file name IF you use Zmodem - your mileage may vary... */ .... misc messages ... away for n seconds foo% I've tested this on numerous Unix boxes (Sun, PC Clones w/SCO, etc...) and, yes - even dos... It works. +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Joe Backo ARPA : jback@east.sun.com Sun Microsystems Internet: jback@sundc.East.Sun.COM 8219 Leesburg Pike Usenet : ...!uunet!sun!sundc!jback Suite #700 AT&T : (703) 883-0444 Vienna, VA 22180 FAX : (703) 893-0576 +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+
