I suppose that this belongs in in comp.mail.uucp.newusers.questions if it existed: I will be leaving school soon and will be losing access to the net that I have had till now, and so I would like to look into connecting my unix box at home to the net through uucp. I have already read with much interest the discussions in the .UUCP zone demise debate, but my questions at the moment are more basic: How does my machine become an uucp site? Or more to the point, how do I "solve the problem of finding a feed site or sites"? How is this typically done? What approvals, if any, are needed and who would grant these? What costs are involved? What is involved in "registering" the new site? What rules, if any, need be observed? Etc. If there are documentation already posited somewhere on the net that would answer these questions, I would appreciate pointers and any other help that you can offer.
