Folks who are gatewaying mail into news using C News might want to check that your gateway is supplying the resulting articles with all the RFC1036 mandatory headers. At the moment, C News is tolerant of the absence of (e.g.) Date or Subject, but technically it should not be, and stricter checking is likely in the near future. The problem with this is that it's very hard to supply any feedback to the author of an illegal article without creating other problems, and probably relaynews will simply drop the article on the floor and note the fact in one of the logs. If this happens at a site with an inattentive sysadmin, you might not hear about it. -- NFS: all the nice semantics of MSDOS, | Henry Spencer at U of Toronto Zoology and its performance and security too. | henry@zoo.toronto.edu utzoo!henry
