I don't like putting a request for help out like this, but our vendor has been utterly useless in helping with this problem. Whenever we send mail THROUGH one of our systems (either because it's to someone who has it forwarded to another system or because it is only one hop in a longer path to the destination system), it falls on the floor (not delivered, and no notice to the sender). The only clue is a couple of lines in our LOGFILE (old-style uucp here) like the following: hpserver!uucp (1/10-9:18:17) (Q,18190,0) gaf XQT (PATH=/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/lbin LOGNAME=uucp rmail x!y!z) hpserver!uucp (1/10-9:18:21) (Q,18190,0) ret (1000) from hpserver!gaf (MAIL FAIL) In this case 'hpserver' is trying to mail thru system 'uucs1' to system 'x' (and from there to person 'z' on system 'y'). I've tried changing permissions and ownerships of all the files which seem relevant to uucp to no avail. If anyone can lend some meaning to this cryptic gibberish I will gleefully rub it in our vendor's corporate face. (Yes, I'd like to change vendors but the boss thinks otherwise). -- Guy Finney It's that feeling of deja-vu UUCS inc.
