[comp.mail.uucp] uucp and host handshakes

root@dogear.UUCP (Bob Kirkpatrick) (04/03/91)

HELLLLLP!

I'm trying to establish a mail link between my pc and my unix host. I'm
using the uucp built into Waffle v1.64. However, I have had the same
problem with UUPC and FSUUCP, so I'm not anxious to blame Waffle. I expect
that either I'm doing something wrong, or their may be something different
between the uucico used in the pc realm and the one my host and I use in
unix.

From my unix box, I have functional workings --not a surprise, the host and
I are essentially the same as far as configuration. But, in the pc world,
here's what happens when I poll the host:

Login: uucp
Password: xxxxxxx

rmsg sync got 10
rmsg: RLOGIN
Cannot Tango - reason: RLOGIN
top master state: k
Overflows: 0 Tx, 0 Rx
Errors: Framing 0, Parity 0, Transmit 0
Errors: DSR 0, CTS 0
top master state: i
top master state: s
NO CARRIER

This really has me foxed. I've tried a variety of changes to the config
files which drive uucp --testing different length host/node names (in
case there's an objection from either on nodename length --makes no
difference). The same error occurs if I poll my own unix box from the
pc, or pc to host.

If anyone has any suggestions, or has seen this error and knows why it
happens --PLEASE let me know what you did about it.
