Hiya - I forgot to jot down the people who were having problems connecting with Suns. I was wondering if there was a common problem here. I am trying to connect: NeXT <---------> Sun BSD 4.3 (sorta) SunOS 4.1.1 BSD UUCP (4.2 w/ subdir) HoneyDanBer Are people seeing the same kind of problems with the same kinds of systems? - Jiro Nakamura jiro@shaman.com // Basically the problem was that the two systems will initiate // protocol all right, but halfway through, things will hang up // and time out. -- Jiro Nakamura jiro@shaman.com The Shaman Group (607) 256-5125 VOICE "Bring your dead, dying shamans here!" We have a SunOS 4.1 system calling in regularly with no trouble. The owner of a NeXT has given up trying to connect to us. He gets past the login, but everything times out during the exchange of UUCP names. (Or perhaps earlier - nothing is written to the audit file). -- =*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*= Neil W. So he's trying to connect to another 4.3 machine, huh. There goes my hypothesis that SunOS 4.1.1 UUCP has bugs in it. - jiro nakamura -- Jiro Nakamura jiro@shaman.com The Shaman Group (607) 256-5125 VOICE "Bring your dead, dying shamans here!" We're running Sun OS 4.1 here, and I was experiencing a similar problem connecting to a couple of sites. Everything seemed to be fine when I would log in manually, but when uucico attempted to log in, it wouldn't seem to recognize the "Shere=" prompt from the other system. uucico debugging output gave no clues, even with level 9 debugging. Someone suggested that I end the password that I send with "\n\c", (line feed with no carriage return), and that seemed to fix the problem. I don't know why it works, but it does.
