UNIGROUP OF NEW YORK ANNOUNCES IT'S NEXT MEETING "UUCP, Mail and a Bit More" June 20, 1991 AT&T Building 32 Ave. of the Americas Lower Manhattan, NY Although most Unigroup meetings are held on odd numbered months on a Wednesday, there will be a special meeting on Thursday June 20, 1991 devoted to a discussion of UUCP and Electronic Mail. Before the main speakers, Mr. Robert Weiner of Programming Plus, will give a Nifty UNIX tricks talk. Mr. Weiner will be presenting some tricks with regular expressions. Mr. Chris Lent of Tailor-Made Systems, Inc. will be presenting "UUCP, Mail and a Bit More" in the special meeting. UUCP (Unix-to-Unix CoPy) is a method of exchanging files, mail and news via dialup modems or serial link. Mr. Lent will discuss how to administer UUCP and examine publicly available implementations of UUCP and electronic mail. Details of the UUCP protocol will also be explored. Mr. Joe Ben-David, Senior Engineer of Telebit Corporation, will speak on the Packetized Ensemble Protocol (PEP) which provides error correcting dialup communications. Mr. Ben-David will also discuss the UUCP protocol optimization provided in Telebit Trailblazer modems. Unigroup meeting registration begins at 5:30pm. From 5:30pm to 7:00pm there will be vendor demonstrations occuring in the hallway adjacent to the auditorium. A question and answer session is planned for approximately 6:00-6:30pm in the auditorium. The main presentations will start around 7:00pm and often run till 9:00-9:30pm. Unigroup meetings occur at the AT&T Building Auditorium at 32 Avenue of the Americas in New York City, N.Y. (cross streets: 6th Ave., Church St., Lispenard St., Walker St.). UNIGROUP yearly membership is $50 which includes free access to all our meetings. Non-member meeting-only fee is $20. Student (with valid id) meeting-only fee is $5. Payment methods: Cash, Checks or American Express. The AT&T building is situated one block south of Canal Street. The Canal Street station of the A, E, and C subway lines has an exit directly into the building lobby. The Canal Street stop of the N and R trains has an exit right at Lispenard St. and Broadway which is one block away from the AT&T building (walk down Lispenard to Church St.). The East and West Side IRT lines are also a few blocks away. There are also a few parking lots in the area (one on Lispenard, one on Canal). The AT&T Building Auditorium is on the ground floor (street level) of the building right near the 6th Avenue building entrance.
