[comp.mail.headers] Usenet>Bitnet-->HOW?

dickow@ui3.UUCP (12/20/86)

     Can anyone tell me how I (from a USENET location) can mail to
a BitNet address? There must be a gateway. Please describe in detail.

psuvax1 serves as the uucp/bitnet gateway for mail. to send to a
bitnet site from a uucp site, rewrite the address with the following
template:

...!psuvax1!bitnetsite.bitnet!userid

an example follows:

...!psuvax1!mitvma.bitnet!s19984

The host psuvax1 is a UUCP<==>BITNET gateway. From a UUCP site the following
address will work (if it gets here intact):

	...!psuvax1!HostName.BITNET!username

This will fail if some intermediate mailer munges the address. Check out the
signature block for hosts that psuvax1 talks to directly.
