Can anyone tell me how I (from a USENET location) can mail to a BitNet address? There must be a gateway. Please describe in detail. ...There must be a way... there is a will... Bob Dickow, University of Idaho School of Music egg-id!ui3!dickow

Please describe in detail. psuvax1 serves as the uucp/bitnet gateway for mail. to send to a bitnet site from a uucp site, rewrite the address with the following template: ...!psuvax1!bitnetsite.bitnet!userid an example follows: ...!psuvax1!mitvma.bitnet!s19984 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Henry Mensch / <henry@garp.mit.edu> / ...!mit-eddie!garp!henry

From a UUCP site the following address will work (if it gets here intact): ...!psuvax1!HostName.BITNET!username This will fail if some intermediate mailer munges the address. Check out the signature block for hosts that psuvax1 talks to directly. --Daniel Ehrlich (psuvax1!postmaster) UUCP: {burdvax,cbosgd,cmcl2,pitt,ihnp4}!psuvax1!ehrlich CSNET: ehrlich@penn-state.csnet USPS: The Pennsylvania State University INTERNET: ehrlich@psuvax1.psu.edu Department of Computer Science BITNET: ehrlich@psuvax1.bitnet 333 Whitmore Laboratory BELL: +1 814 863 1142 University Park, PA 16802 Quote: "The sky is blue so we know where to stop mowing."
