[comp.mail.headers] Sending mail to c$erve...

frotz@dri.com (Frotz) (01/15/91)

Has anyone been able to mail to c$erve lately? I asked about this
about 4-5 months ago and received a document that gave me information.
My understanding is that to get from the .UUCP domain (pseudo-internet)
to c$erve, you send mail to the cis account # @compuserve.com and things
get translated automagically. e.g.

	xxxxx.yyy@compuserve.com

is a valid internet address for someone one c$erve. The following
headers were received this morning. My question is: Should I talk to
the postmaster at cis.ohio-state.edu or what? Any help would be greatly
appreciated...

advTHANKSance

Yes, about 12 minutes ago.

Yes, you should; and it would have worked a whole lot better and more
promptly if you'd just mailed me directly.

Giza (one of the systems which does gateway work for CServe) was
upgraded this past Sunday, and I managed to miss one of the more
important bits of the mail system in the process. It was fixed less
than 10 minutes after multi-user reboot after otherwise having
completed the upgrade. Your mail managed to get bitten in that
10-minute window. Send again; it'll get through now.

Say what? Saddam Hussein gave you a deadline of 31 January?
