[comp.mail.headers] What about 'Resent-note:'?

jerry@ora.ora.com (Jerry Peek) (05/15/91)

When I re-send (forward) mail, I use the MH "dist" command that adds RFC822
addressing info like "Resent-to: xxx". It routes the message to the new
recipient without adding a completely separate header. That's really handy.

I've thought I could add things like this to the header (MH makes it easy):
Resent-note: Joe, please get back to me about this
But Dan Heller pointed out that "Resent-note" isn't anywhere in RFC822...
he's right. The Nutshell Handbook I wrote about MH mentions it, oops.

How did Resent-note get started? (I probably got the idea off USENET years
ago and never checked it in RFC822.) Is it quasi-legal anywhere? Thanks.
