[comp.emacs] GNU on Sun3s -- HELP

ceb@ethz.UUCP (Charles Buckley) (11/10/86)

A number of people seem to run into this problem, including me, so
I'll circulate a net response.

The problem lies in bringing up GNU Emacs on Sun 3's. People get
temacs to run, and get a dump of xemacs, which is absolutely
worthless, (won't run, can't be debugged, etc.)

When this happened to me, I solved it by using the right include file
in my makefile, it must be m-sun3.h (not m-sun.h). Turns out the only
difference between m-sun3.h and m.sun2.h (yes, both of these exist) is
in the way undump is compiled; the header of the core image is
different for Sun 3's. Hope this helps.
