rms@PREP.AI.MIT.EDU (Richard M. Stallman) (11/29/86)
Everyone should note that the mailing list to reach GNU Emacs users (including the newsgroup comp.emacs) is info-gnu-emacs@prep.ai.mit.edu. The mailing list info-gnu@prep.ai.mit.edu is to reach everyone interested in the GNU project in general but not necessarily in technical issues about using Emacs. These two lists do not have much overlap. Please send your mail to the proper place. To reach the maintainers of those lists (for discussions or requests about the lists themselves), don't send to the lists. Send to info-gnu-emacs-request or info-gnu-request (both @prep.ai.mit.edu). To report bugs in GNU Emacs, or in general to reach people interested in the internals of GNU Emacs, send to bug-gnu-emacs@prep.ai.mit.edu. Any time you are about to send to info-gnu-emacs, please consider for a moment whether it would be more appropriate to send to bug-gnu-emacs instead and trouble fewer people. GDB bugs should be reported to bug-gdb@prep.ai.mit.edu. On usenet, prep.ai.mit.edu can be reached directly from seismo, ucbvax, harvard, mit-eddie, or any other machine that is actually on the internet.
