I think it would be a good general concept to have a emacs-exit-hook associated with each buffer and process. When emacs is exited, this hook would be called with the buffer or process as its parameter. This would solve a problem I had recently where I wanted to send an EOF to a process instead of just killing it. Also, the mail problem could be solved this way. RMAIL may at some point want to take advantage of this as well. I do not believe this feature already exists but if it does, please let me know. If others think this is a generally good idea, I will attempt to implement it although I do not know that much about the internals of GNU emacs. -- Perry Smith {convex!ctvax,{ti-csl,infotel}!pollux}!bobkat!pedz
