[comp.emacs] Language-sensitive Macros

tld@ssc-vax.UUCP (01/26/87)

I have been using the DEC language-sensitive editor (LSE) with
Ada (r) and am now on a machine with Ada but no lse. However,
UniPress Emacs is available. Does anyone have some language-
sensitive macros, a la the DEC lse, that they would be willing
to share? I have not used Emacs, although I have looked at it
and am interested, so this is also a chance to do some
evangelizing.

The DEC LSE inserts place-holders that may be expanded into the
basic language constructs (e.g., for-loop, if-then-else, case,
etc.). It also does the compile and keeps track of the line in
which the error occured.

I have looked at the GNU Emacs manual and there are some words
there that sort of address this topic (we have GNU Emacs on a
UN*X machine, the UP Emacs is on a VMS machine).

Please respond via E-mail or net. I will post the results if
there is sufficient interest.

Thanks.
