Has anybody successfully ported GNU emacs to a Unisoft 68000 system port? I tried to port an old (about 16.50) version of emacs to version 5.0, and (after much work) managed to get to compile and load the lisp startup files. The function to dump emacs as a memory image was not working in that version, but even without this I got problems with the garbage collector and the program core dumping. Has anybody had any more success than this with more recent versions? I know that lots of things have changed since the version I worked on, since I browsed through the source of version 17.6x. I am still prepared to put a fair bit of effort into getting it working, but I would like to know if I am wasting my time, or if somebody (preferably in the UK) has already managed to get it working. I have access to Unisoft 5.0 and 5.2 68000 ports. Please e-mail me if you can offer some advice, I.
