Well, MicroEmacs 3.8b is now up and running. Having never seen emacs before, I now have a few dumb questions to ask, so please indulge me. 1. Am I hallucinating or does MicroEmacs really look very much like Perfect Writer, which is made by Perfect Software? 2. I notice that some of the documentation is unformatted (appears at glance to be Perfect Format compatible). Is there a formatting program that accompanies MicroEmacs? (how else to print the stuff?) 3. I also notice references to an Emacs 18.40 and a GNU Emacs. Can someone please describe for me the entire Emacs family of programs? 4. My version of MicroEmacs has two terminal-related bugs: a. The screen sometimes garbles due to overrun. Is there any timing value in the source that I can adjust to slow the output down a few milliseconds? b. Portions of the Status Line loses its reverse-video attribute. It seems to happen when part of the Status Line is redrawn. 5. What is an "Emacs shell"? Is that a part of MicroEmacs? 6. Assuming that other Emacs-related programs are out there (fuller implementations, etc), where can I get my hands on them? Thanks in advance. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Mark Steven Jeghers: the terrorist smuggling CIA weapons to Libya | | | | {ihnp4,cbosgd,lll-lcc,lll-crg}|{dual,ptsfa}!cogent!mark | | | | Standard Disclaimer: Contents may have settled during shipment. | +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
