[comp.emacs] microemacs 3.8 for the Mac

earleh@dartvax.UUCP (Earle R. Horton) (03/23/87)

I have posted microemacs 3.8 for the Macintosh to mod.mac.binaries
and to net.sources.mac. There are six files: one of documentation and
five of binhex 4.0 codes to reconstruct the program. The documentation
is skimpy, because the general microemacs 3.8 source posting appeared
in mod.sources very recently. That posting contained 14 shar files,
with C source, documentation, a sample startup file, everything. Get
the mod.sources shar archives and extract the documentation if you need
it.

I will post the sources if enough people request it, and specify the
format desired. I had to hammer the hell out of Dan Lawrence's code
to get Megamax to accept it and to get the Mac to execute it. What
do you want then? diffs? everything? just my display routines?

This program provides support for generic printers. About all that is
required to print is a printer that can do CTS handshake and uses a baud
rate somewhere between 300 and 19200. Since I don't own an ImageWriter
and therefore don't have the opportunity to debug code for it, I don't
support the ImageWriter or LaserWriter drivers. If the ImageWriter has
some sort of draft mode and can be induced to go to the next line upon
receipt of "\015\012" (CRLF), or "\015" (CR), or maybe even "\012" (LF),
then maybe you can print with one. All characters that are present
in a buffer are sent directly to the printer, except for tabs, which
are expanded to DEC-style tabstops (8).

If you detect bugs and want them fixed, send me mail. Based on the
number of bug reports I received from my posting of microemacs 3.7,
I would have concluded that there were absolutely no bugs in it, and
I know that to be false. C'mon, I WANT the bug reports. Don't be
