[comp.emacs] Getting EMACS Manuals

johnson@uiucdcsp.UUCP (03/27/87)

The GNU Emacs Manual from FSF is very nice and should be purchased by
all GNU Emacs users. It is much easier to read (and somehow seems a
better manual) than the version that you run off on a printer, even
though the test and format is identical. I guess it is the nice binding.

I liked the cover, which shows (I think) Stallman as a knight, riding
a gnu, chasing a money grubbing software manufacturer. And I think that
selling software is a fine idea! Fortunately, there were no sex jokes
in the manual.

You can get a box of six manuals for $60 dollars from the Free Software
Foundation, 1000 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge MA, 02138. I bought
three---they're great!
